Reputable German writer Florian Plettenberg has reported that West Ham United is interested in Roger Schmidt.
Given the uncertainty surrounding Julen Lopetegui’s long-term future, the Hammers are searching the market for a manager.
The Premier League team is now keeping an eye on the German strategist, although a deal may not materialize.
For almost ten years, Roger Schmidt has been regarded as one of Europe’s best managers. He was a midfielder who was born in Kierspe and spent his early childhood and professional career in Germany.
He retired in 2005 at the age of 38 and did not play for any prominent clubs.
The 57-year-old made his managing debut in 2004, but it took him over ten years to get recognition.
Schmidt’s tenure with Bayer Leverkusen made him a household figure in Germany and abroad.
According to Florian Plettenberg, Schmidt is unlikely to be in control of a new team at this time, reports Hard Tackle.
Furthermore, SL Benfica has not yet canceled his contract.
Therefore, if the 57-year-old German Man does not join West Ham, they may have to explore elsewhere for a new manager.
