Prosecutors in Sweden have reportedly dropped the rape investigation involving Real Madrid forward, Kylian Mbappe due to insufficient evidence.
Mbappe has been a subject of rape allegation when he travelled to Stockholm, the country’s capital during the international break in October.
Now, according to Forbes, the prosecutors have now stated that the allegation does not have any evidence whatsoever, thereby taking the pressure off the 25-year-old’s head.
“The Swedish prosecutor’s office is shelving the investigation into an alleged ‘rape’ linked to a stay in Stockholm by Kylian Mbappe and his entourage due to lack of evidence,” the AFP stated, adding that the Public Prosecutor’s Office announced this “without mentioning Real Madrid’s French soccer player”.

SPORT echoed quotes from Marina Chirakova, who formed part of the investigation.
“There is not enough evidence to continue with the case,” she said. “The soccer player Kylian Mbappe is no longer a suspect: the investigation is closed.
“No interrogations have been carried out,” added Chirakova, who led the preliminary investigation while Mbappe was never notified of suspicion of any crime.
It was claimed that the alleged event happened in October. During that month’s international break, the Madrid star went to Stockholm after France had not selected him for their UEFA Nations League games against Belgium and Israel.
