Kyle Walker Slams Unacceptable Social Media Post After Juve Defeat As Man City Rally Round Ace

Kyle Walker has responded to a social media post that attempted to depict him as a suicide bomber, an act that Manchester City also condemned.

According to a statement posted on the official Manchester City website.

Manchester City strongly condemns the racist abuse that Kyle Walker received online following last night’s game.
We will not allow discrimination of any type, whether it occurs in stadiums or online.

We will provide Kyle with our full support considering the awful treatment he has suffered.

The post came following City’s Champions League defeat to Juventus, a game that analyst Stan Collymore predicted may lead to “something quite spectacular” for the club.

Unfortunately, given the nature of social media, it appears that there is little control over what is uploaded and then seen.

Despite the complaints of social media corporations, moderation teams rarely appear to function properly.

If they did, there would be a lot of questions about how a photo like this could get through.

Of course, this isn’t the first time a black player has had to deal with some form of social media harassment; Brennan Johnson deactivated his social media accounts earlier in the season due to abuse from Tottenham fans.

Unless clubs and players entirely abandon all forms of social media, which is clearly impractical in this day and age, they will remain in the hands of those who own Tik Tok, X, Instagram, and other platforms.
