Arsenal are reportedly plotting a summer transfer move for Atalanta goalkeeper, Marco Carnesecchi.
After earning the Golden Glove while on loan last season and performing effectively in the opening few months of the new season, David Raya is now solidly established as the team’s number one.
However, as 35-year-old Neto’s contract expires in the summer and is expected to leave Arsenal at the end of the current campaign, a spot as Raya’s backup is expected to become vacant.
At the club, young players like Tommy Setford and Jack Porter are well-liked, but if Neto leaves, Mikel Arteta wants someone with more experience.

According to Italian outlet Tuttosport as reported by Team Talk, Arsenal are considering Carnesecchi because they see the 24-year-old as a more than competent backup to Raya.
After playing on loan at Trapani and Cremonese, Carnesecchi secured a starting position at Atalanta in the 2023–2024 season after joining the team as a teenager in 2017.
The shot-stopper, who has made 15 appearances this season after establishing himself as a first choice, made 27 appearances in Serie A last season. Having played in the Champions League six times this season, he also has experience in the competition.
Even though the Italy Under-21 international’s contract expires in the summer of 2026 and the possibility of him leaving for nothing grows, the Bergamo-based club are not in a rush to sell him.
