Kylian Mbappe has acknowledged that his current surge in play was motivated by the disappointment he felt after missing a penalty in the 2-1 loss to Athletic Club.
Despite his goal total, the Frenchman had a mixed start to his Real Madrid career and fell far short of expectations.
Earlier this month, he failed from the penalty spot in Bilbao, just days after doing the same against Liverpool, which put him under a lot of pressure.
But Mbappe has made significant progress since then. Before suffering an injury, he scored against Girona and scored an early goal against Atalanta.

However, he came back to lead the team in a 3-0 victory over Pachuca in Qatar and impressed in a 4-2 victory over Sevilla on Sunday.
“I can do a lot more,” Mbappe said after the game as echoed by 90min. “I know I have a lot more football in my legs than I’m showing.
“But, as I said before, I’ve been improving in the last few games. Bilbao did me good, because I hit rock bottom; missing that penalty… I realised that I had to give my all for this shirt. Play with personality.
“We are getting to know each other better. My arrival changed many things in the team, but the adaptation, as the coach said, is over.
“I feel very good and you can see on the field that I understand the rest of the players better. And that we are all playing much better now.”
Mbappe will be hoping to continue his impressive run of form in Los Blancos’ next outing which will be against Valencia at the Mestella next year.
