Real Madrid supporters, along with defender Alvaro Arbeloa made sure not to forget about Barcelona star Gerard Pique during last night’s Champions League celebrations.
The Spanish duo have been involved in a social media war for the majority of the season and it doesn’t appear to be close to a conclusion anytime soon.
Arbeloa, who is set to leave the Santiago Bernabeu this summer, couldn’t resist taking another dig at Pique as Los Blancos paraded Europe’s most elite trophy to the fans.
According to Spanish publication Sport, he said: “I don’t know when or with whom this all started, but I do know who I want to thank: all of you [the fans], you’re the best.”
It is understood that Arbeloa was making reference to Pique’s “Kevin Roldan” speech during Barca’s treble-winning celebrations last year as the Colombian singer performed at Cristiano Ronaldo’s birthday party after the 4-0 defeat against Atletico Madrid last season.
Supporters then teased Pique with the chant “Pique, cabron, salute the champion!”.
The former Liverpool defender also wore the number 21 shirt throughout the celebrations as a tribute to winger Denis Cheryshev.
Madrid were expelled from the Copa Del Rey earlier in the season for fielding the Russian, who was ineligible, and Barca supporters mocked him at the Camp Nou whilst on-loan at Valencia.
Where this feud will end, if it ever does, is anybody’s guess.
