Former Arsenal forward, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has made lighthearted remarks implying that he is the missing component in Mikel Arteta’s pursuit of Premier League success.
The Gabon international, who was club captain and scored 92 goals in 163 games for the Gunners, left the Emirates on a bad note when Arteta stripped him of his leadership role due to a number of disciplinary concerns.
Aubameyang currently plays for Al Qadsiah in the Saudi Pro League following a brief spell at Barcelona and a fruitless stint with Chelsea.
According to the Daily Express, he asserted that Arsenal were “missing something” this season, specifically a “goalscoring machine,” in a recent interview with The Athletic.

When asked who they were missing, he cheekily responded: “Me.”
Arsenal are currently six points behind Liverpool in the title race, and they have yet to catch up despite their efforts. Injuries have plagued their campaign, which was further ruined after their most recent game ended in a 1-1 draw with Brighton.
After another disciplinary violation in December 2021, when he returned to the club late after taking care of his ailing mother, 35-year-old Aubameyang has opened up about his falling out with Arteta and his turbulent departure from Arsenal.
Aubameyang admitted: “My mistake. I should have come back the night before, but I arrived in the morning. I didn’t tell them that I would miss the flight because I was preoccupied with my mum’s stuff (medical examinations).”
