Mikel Arteta revealed he was dubious whether his Arsenal side will win major prizes after being knocked out of the FA Cup.
The Gunners were favourites to advance to the fourth round when they hosted Manchester United at the Emirates, but were defeated on penalties after dominating much of the game in north London.
It is the latest setback for Arsenal, who were defeated 2-0 in the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final just days ago, leaving them with a mountain to climb if they are to reach the final. Despite their recent progress, Arteta has only one major trophy to show for it: an FA Cup victory in 2020.

They have continued to spend in the playing group, but fans now expect a return on their investment in the shape of silverware. The Premier League appears to be a difficult task this season, given Liverpool’s lead, and Arteta did not feel certain that his club will win the title. Reported By Mirror.

He stated, “We are banking on not playing like this and waiting for one shot to hit on target and score a goal, which I do not want to bet on. I’m betting on that squad to try. Will we win big trophies? I do not know. However, only a few teams in the world can compete at this level.
“It is incredible how you don’t win that game. We had domination, superiority, and did everything we could to win the game, but we did not get what we deserved. We go home really sad, but I couldn’t be prouder of my players.
Arteta has finished second in the league for the last two years, collecting the title race to the final day last term. However their last major trophy came back in 2020 when they beat Chelsea in the FA Cup final.
