Rio Ferdinand Confront Mikel Arteta At North London Derby With One Question

Rio Ferdinand has a question for Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta about his transfer plans. The Gunners face Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday, three days after their FA Cup third-round penalty shootout loss to Manchester United.

In what has been an injury-plagued season for Arteta, he has now lost Gabriel Jesus, who sustained an ACL injury against the Red Devils.

Prior to the loss of the Brazilian striker, many believed Arsenal needed a forward. Their lack of goal threat was compounded by Bukayo Saka’s hamstring injury late last year.

During an episode of Rio Ferdinand Presents, the United legend informed co-host Joel Beya that if he has the chance to interview Arteta before Wednesday’s game, he intends to ask the Spaniard how much he wants to bring in a striker this summer. Reported by Mirror.

“If I get the chance to interview Arteta, I’m going to ask him that question, that’s the one I’m going for,” the former England captain stated. “‘Were you ever looking for a number nine, and if so, why didn’t you get one?’

“‘Was it the number one target in your transfer window?’ Because relying on set-pieces, as you did, was never going to be anything long-term that would last and get you over the line to  win the league.”

“We are searching and trying, so let’s see what we can do. Recruiting a player requires three sides to agree, and just because I adore my guys doesn’t mean we can’t think about how to improve.
