Under former manager Erik ten Hag, the 20-year-old was among the first players on the team sheet but since new head coach Amorim took over, he has witnessed a decline in playing time.
Garnacho has had difficulty adjusting to the new 3-4-2-1 strategy, which uses wing-backs and two offensive midfielders behind a single striker.
Previously, he excelled as a left winger in a 4-3-3 formation.
Although the Argentine played as one of the strikers in their FA Cup victory against Arsenal over the weekend, it is still uncertain which position he would play best in the new lineup, reports Manchester World.
Amorim still sees a future for the United academy product at Old Trafford, if he can adjust to their new tactical demands. “That’s obvious. He’s talented.
Before the Premier League game against Southampton, Amorim stated, “He needs to learn how to play in a different position.”
“He needs to play better inside. He improves a lot in the recovering position when he doesn’t have the ball.
But doing that, sometimes he’s not in the right place to make transitions like he was in the past.”
