One of the best players in Premier League history, De Bruyne has led City to six championships, two FA Cups, and the Champions League with some outstanding midfield performances.
He is 33 years old, has played for City for 10 seasons, and appears to be deteriorating as a player after being forced to accept a bench role this season.
His future is also uncertain as his contract expires this summer, reports Mirror.
De Bruyne has started fewer than half of City’s Premier League games this season, indicating that he is no longer able to meet Guardiola’s demanding system.
After the player sustained several injuries in recent years, the demands of the game have also become more taxing in the modern era, and according to the Times, De Bruyne has admitted his limitations.
He will turn 34 days before his contract expires this summer, so the club will have to make a big decision about whether to grant him new terms.
According to the report, he wants to continue at City past the conclusion of his current one.
