Mateta, who is reportedly open to joining the Red Devils despite their ongoing difficulties under Ruben Amorim, was reportedly approached by Manchester United last week.
After Arsenal’s striker problems this season, Rooney thinks Mateta is a guy they should consider.
Mikel Arteta is severely lacking up top as a result of Arsenal’s failure to buy a new center forward and an unfortunate injury issue at the Emirates Stadium, which has caused them to fall 15 points behind Liverpool.
