Chelsea shocked everyone by signing Ruben Amorim, a target for Manchester United, in a sensational transfer, guaranteeing his future at Stamford Bridge.
In a remarkable turn of events, Chelsea FC has effectively hijacked Manchester United’s long-standing pursuit of Portuguese superstar Geovany Quenda.
According to famous transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, Quenda will join Chelsea in 2026, a major setback for Manchester United’s recruitment intentions under manager Ruben Amorim.
Quenda, a highly versatile 17-year-old winger and wing-back, has been linked with Manchester United since Amorim’s arrival at Old Trafford.
Amorim had previously worked with Quenda at Sporting CP and was excited to reunite with him at United.

The Portuguese media had described Quenda’s transfer to Manchester United as “inevitable,” with reports suggesting that United had “reserved” the player for a summer move.
However, Chelsea’s swift and secretive negotiations have secured Quenda’s future at Stamford Bridge.
The club has signed a club-to-club deal with Sporting Lisbon, and Quenda has agreed to join Chelsea, supporting the effort directed by manager Enzo Maresca. A medical checkup has also been conducted successfully, confirming the agreement.
This unforeseen development is a major setback for Amorim’s aspirations at Manchester United. Amorim had highlighted Quenda as a significant target, praising his ability to integrate into United’s 3-4-3 formation.
The manager’s influence had a significant role in Quenda’s initial interest in joining United, but Chelsea’s strong pursuit has changed the course of events.
United’s financial restraints, combined with the necessity to follow the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability regulations, made obtaining Quenda a difficult challenge.
