Arne Slot is sure that complacency was not their demise in their debut away loss of the Premier League season.
The Reds suffered a 3-2 defeat by Fulham, which halted their unbeaten record on their travels. Liverpool wasted an opportunity to jump 14 points clear at the top of the Premier League standings due to defensive blunders at Craven Cottage.
Liverpool got off to a good start when Alexis Mac Allister scored in the 14th minute. However, Fulham scored three goals in 14 minutes, through Ryan Sessegnon, Alex Iwobi, and Rodrigo Muniz. Each intervention resulted from Liverpool’s defensive errors. Luis Diaz cut the deficit in the 72nd minute, but the Reds were unable to find an equaliser. Reported By Liverpool World.

Following Arsenal’s 1-1 draw at Everton the day before, Liverpool’s already strong chances of winning the Premier League title were boosted. They had a blip against Fulham, but Slot insisted there was ‘no reason’ for his players to become too comfortable. The Anfield boss believes that the Reds are blasting clear at the summit is down to their hard work and dedication.
At his post-match press conference, Slot stated: “I believe there is no reason for us to be complacent.” We are not currently No. 1 since we win every game by three or four goals. I believe that everyone who has seen our games understands how much effort and hard work it takes to win football games, in addition to the quality. The team that won the league in the previous four seasons was 3-0 ahead at halftime in practically every game.
“This can happen, especially if you play a good team like Fulham. If you make mistakes, they have the quality to punish us. I think in the end [in the] second half we generated so many chances that we could have made up for it. But we lacked time, especially toward the end, because in the first 20 minutes of the second half it didn’t feel to me as if we could score a goal. But I think everyone knew in the last 20 to 25 minutes that we may score the third goal. That’s why the last 25 minutes saw the least amount of actual playing time.”
