Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud was named as UEFA’s Man of the Match for his display in France‘s 5-2 defeat of Iceland on Sunday night.
Giroud put in a fantastic performance before being taken off in the 60th minute, with Les Bleus sitting pretty at 5-1 at the time at the Stade de France.
The 29-year-old opened the scoring in the 12th minute before providing the assist for his side’s fourth goal of the night, with Antoine Griezmann latching onto his through-ball prior to half-time.
Giroud doubled his tally just before the hour-mark to take his tally to the tournament to three before Didier Deschamps brought him off to a standing ovation, clearly with half an eye on Thursday’s semi-final clash with Germany in Marseille.

And after scoring, assisting and winning 80% of his aerial duels on the night, the Arsenal man was named as Uefa’s Man of the Match in Paris.
Heading into the penultimate round of the tournament, France team-mate Griezmann is now the only player to have scored more goals than Giroud in the race to finish as top scorer.
Arsene Wenger was in the crowd at the Stade de France, with Giroud’s performance sure to have impressed the Gunners manager ahead of the club’s return to pre-season.
