Conte hoping to deprive Ibrahimovic the Premier League title

Antonio Conte has warned Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic that he is ready to haunt him in a title race for the second time in his career.

Ibrahimovic won the Serie A championship in five of the six years he spent during his playing career in Italy.

The only coach to deprive him of a clean sweep was Conte, who led Juventus to glory in 2012 ahead of the Swede’s then club AC Milan.

That was Ibrahimovic’s last season in Italy and the duo haven’t battled each other in the same League since.

But that’s all changed with Conte taking over at Chelsea and Ibrahimovic leaving Paris St Germain to sign a one-year contract at Manchester United.

Significantly, when asked what he regards as the best win of his life, Conte said: “As a coach it was the first championship of my career with Juventus.

“It was fantastic because we started the season as the underdog and the press had us down for sixth or seventh place in the table.

“I remember that Milan had Zlatan Ibrahimovic and it was the only season that he didn’t win the championship.

“I hope that in this coming season, it is the same again!”
