Aaron Ramsdale Quits Arsenal after A New Offer Was Rejected

Aaron Ramsdale has been linked with a move away from Arsenal this summer, with the England international being second choice to David Raya.

The 26-year-old joined north London from Sheffield United in 2021 and was first choice at the Emirates Stadium in his debut season. Raya, however, lost his spot in Mikel Arteta’s starting lineup after joining on loan from Brentford last summer.

And with the Spaniard signing on a permanent basis this summer, Ramsdale might spend another season on the bench if he stays at Arsenal. With that said, football.london has compiled a list of the most recent developments regarding Ramsdale’s future.

Wolves ‘proposal’

Wolves are alleged to have made a loan offer to Ramsdale, with the West Midlands club providing the option to buy, according to the Athletic.

According to reports, Wolves would pay the majority of Ramsdale’s salaries. However, there is an acknowledgement that a settlement will be tough due to the financial implications.

Talks are thought to be ongoing with Arsenal, but it is unclear whether Wolves backup Dan Bentley will be involved. The Gunners would apparently prefer to sell Ramsdale than allow him depart on a temporary basis.

Ajax Offer

Last week, Arsenal turned down a proposal from Ajax. The Dutch team made a loan offer, which was quickly rejected by Arsenal.

However, Ajax remain optimistic that a deal can be reached and are still interested in the former Bournemouth player.

“No footballer wants to not play,” Ramsadale told talkSPORT before Euro 2024. “I’ve had a tough year personally not playing and I never want to do that again.

“It was challenging. But now that I’ve been released, I’m here, and I’ve got the greatest honour, the greatest badge on my breast. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: if I play a minute or no minutes, it will be the pinnacle of my career, the best day ever.”

When asked about Ramsdale’s future in April, Arteta responded, “You know I’m not going to comment on those things.”

When asked if there was any chance Ramsdale would still be at Arsenal next season, he said, “A suggestion?” Aaron will undoubtedly be here because he is our player and has a contract.
