Roman Abramovich is ready to increase his day-to-day involvement at Chelsea .
Owner Abramovich made a visit to the club’s training ground last week and is likely to become more hands-on again following the departure of technical director Michael Emenalo.
The Russian billionaire used to be more influential on transfers and visible around the club’s Surrey training ground.
The Blues may not find a direct replacement for Emenalo, which would give director and transfer fixer Marina Granovskaia more control.
Granovskaia is Abramovich’s lieutenant and wields power at the west London club over transfers and negotiations.
Abramovich and the champions’ hierarchy have given manager Antonio Conte complete support and backing over the decision to drop defender David Luiz for Sunday’s win over Manchester United.
That was a major decision on Conte’s part and Abramovich will be anxious there are no more flare-ups in the dressing room following striker Diego Costa’s acrimonious summer-window departure.
Conte’s own long-term future remains uncertain, but Chelsea are clearly hoping that a smooth transition after Emenalo’s departure will maintain harmony in the squad to keep the season on track.
