Serie A giants, AC Milan have reportedly turned down Newcastle United’s €50 million bid for Sandro Tonali.
In order to fill Eddie Howe’s need for a top-tier midfielder this summer, the club have been evaluating a number of prospects since the current transfer window opens.
The Magpies have previously been unsuccessful in their bid for Inter Milan midfielder Nicolo Barella. The Nerazzurri have made it obvious that the player is not for sale.
The Magpies have focused on Tonali and put up a proposal of €50 million for him on Tuesday.
However, according to the Italian publication Calciomercato, the Rossoneri have turned down Newcastle’s opening offer this summer.
Tonali has been a vital member of AC Milan for the past couple of seasons. Therefore the team does not want to lose him.

The Serie A strongholds do, however, face financial limitations. So it will be interesting to see if Newcastle make another attempt to put pressure on AC Milan.
Howe wants to buy two midfielders this summer and wants to spend the majority of Newcastle’s budget in the department.
The Tyneside club have also been linked with Leicester City’s James Maddison. Though a bid is yet to be submitted by the club.
They are reported to be eyeing up transfers in the centre back, full-back, wing forward, and midfield positions.
