Former Nigerian goalkeeper, Ike Shorunmu has appealed to Nigerians to extend massive support to the newly appointed interim coach of the Super Eagles, Augustine Eguavoen in a bid to achieve positive result at the fast-approaching 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.
Shorunmu stated this in an interview with Brila FM on Monday, where he commended the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for taking such bold decision.
Recall that on Sunday, the NFF sacked Gernot Rohr as Super Eagles coach after a poor performance with the team during the qualifying series of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
However, Shorunmnu has called for total support for Eguavoen due to the limited time frame left before the commencement of AFCON 2021.

“All I can say is, the Nations Cup is just around the corner, so the NFF and Nigerians must give them all the support”.
“The time is short, but I wish them all the best and we will be supporting them.”
Eguavoen will now take charge of the Super Eagles, ahead of the 33rd Africa Cup of Nations taking place in Cameroon 9th January – 6th February 2022, and until the appointment of a substantive Head Coach.
