Chelsea are tracking Genoa star Diego Laxalt and could be ready to move for him next month, according to The Sun.
That’s according to his agent Vincenzo D’Ippolito, who claims that Antonio Conte is a big fan of the versatile attacking midfielder and looks set to pounce.
Uruguay international Laxalt has impressed in Serie A since his move to Italy in 2013.
The 23-year-old joined Inter Milan from boyhood club Defensor Sporting before enjoying loan spells at Bologna, Empoli and Genoa.
Laxalt joined the latter on a permanent deal last summer and his recent performances are believed to be attracting interest from a number of top European clubs.
One of those is Chelsea, and agent D’Ippolito admits he’d love to take Laxalt to London for a link-up with former Juventus boss Conte.
He told Calciomercato: “Chelsea? It is one of the clubs [interested] because Conte saw him in Italy, he knows his qualities and he would like to take him to England.”
Operating mainly as a No.10 but also capable of playing on the left, Laxalt could arrive at Stamford Bridge as a replacement for Oscar.
The Brazilian is on the verge of moving to Shanghai SIPG for a whopping £60million, and Chelsea are sure to be keen on bringing in a replacement as quickly as possible.
