Alejandro Garnacho Close To Signing New Man United Contract

Argentine youngster Alejandro Garnacho is reportedly close to signing a new long-term contract at Manchester United.

During the 2022-23 season, the 18-year-old was a regular for the Red Devils, appearing in 15 games across all competitions, scoring twice and assisting five times.

Garnacho scored his first senior goal for the club against Real Sociedad in the Europa League in early November before scoring the game-winning goal against Fulham in the Premier League before the World Cup break.

The young player has kept up his impressive play recently, contributing assists in victories over Everton, Bournemouth, and Manchester City.

Garnacho’s current contract at Old Trafford is set to expire in June 2024, with an additional year of exclusivity, but Man United are eager to sign him to a long-term deal given his growth.

According to the Independent, the youngster has turned down a £20,000-a-week deal because his representatives do not believe it reflects his value to the team.

However, talks about a new contract for Garnacho, who is currently paid £7,000 per week, are said to have gone well.

Real Madrid and Juventus are among the clubs said to be interested in signing the Argentina Under-20s international, but a new contract is close, according to The Telegraph.

According to the report, despite recent speculation, a long-term agreement could be announced in the near future, with Garnacho eager to stay at Old Trafford.

Garnacho came off the bench to set up Marcus Rashford’s winning goal against Manchester City on Saturday afternoon.

Garnacho began his youth career at Getafe before moving to Atletico Madrid, where he spent five years before joining Manchester United in October 2020.
