As he attempts to knock out Tottenham, Arsenal’s bitter rivals, Alexis Sanchez has conceded that he still has a lot of affection for Arsenal.
With every Group D berth still up for grabs, the 33-year-old ex-Gunners hero will start for Marseille in tonight’s crucial European match.
The Ligue 1 team presently has six points, which puts them last in the group, but with a victory, Igor Tudor’s team would move ahead of its Premier League opponents and qualify for the Champions League knockout round for the first time in a decade.
What Alexis Sanchez Said
Sanchez has acknowledged that it would be another “great joy” to add to Tottenham’s problems if they were to lose in southern France, which would send them into the Europa League for the remainder of the 2022–23 season.
“I have some great memories with everyone at the club, especially the fans,” Sanchez told reporters ahead of Tuesday evening’s match.
“Beating Spurs every time was a great joy. It was very special and those are memories that I hold dear to my heart.
🗣️ “They are the days I will always cherish.”

“Every single player has motivation to play and win. We all want to bring the victory back.
“In the dressing room, there is a lot of passion. Playing in front of the fans with their atmosphere is super important and that will drive us on.”

Leaving the Emirates Stadium in 2018, as part of a swap deal with Henrik Mkhitaryan, Sanchez flopped massively at Manchester United, netting just five goals.
Despite his poor spell at the Red Devils, the former Barcelona star came back to haunt Spurs once again by scoring the opening goal in the FA Cup semi-final before he was shipped out on loan to Inter Milan.
