Alisson And Diogo Jota Will Be Out For WEEKS – And Face A Race To Be Fit To Face Man United Next Month

Liverpool have been struck a twin injury blow ahead of a busy schedule, with goalkeeper Alisson fighting to be fit for the match against Manchester United and Diogo Jota ‘out for a bit longer’.

Jota hobbled off the field early in the second half of Liverpool’s 1-1 draw with Manchester City on Saturday and is expected to be out for an extended amount of time with a hamstring injury, with the Reds due to play five games in the next 14 days, two in the Europa League and three in the league. According to dailymail

Alisson, who suffered a hamstring injury at the Etihad Stadium, joins him on the injured list for at least the next two games.

The Brazilian goalkeeper needed treatment late in the game and was seen limping off the pitch at full-time.

Alisson will miss Thursday night’s visit of Austrian side LASK Linz at Anfield, plus the home match with Fulham on Sunday.

He is also ‘probably’ set to miss the week after, which would take in league games against Sheffield United and Crystal Palace.

‘Both are out (Alisson and Jota),’ said Klopp. ‘Ali is a bit lesser, so we have to see. Not day by day, he cannot play tomorrow or Sunday and probably not the week after, should be kind of OK. Diogo will take a little bit longer, I don’t know exactly. Have to see.

Alisson’s injury is not as bad as first feared but it opens the door for Irish goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher, who has been turned to regularly in the Europa League this season, barring one match where he had a minor knee injury.

Klopp added: ‘Kostas needed rhythm and he knew he wasn’t flying. Last two games were really good.
