Alisson Becker has disclosed that following the death of his father in February 2021, Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola wrote him a letter of condolence.
Tragic events befell the goalie halfway through the 2020–21 season when his father, Jose Becker, drowned in a lake close to his Brazilian family home, reports Echo.
However, because of travel restrictions imposed to stop the coronavirus from spreading, Alisson was unable to attend the funeral in his native country.
He consequently had to use FaceTime to watch his father’s ceremony.
More than three years later, Alisson has now disclosed that he only found the strength to return to the field with the help of his Liverpool teammates, as well as—surprisingly—City manager Guardiola and Real Madrid’s Carlo Ancelotti.

“When he died, it destroyed me. I could not even think about football.” Alisson said.
“The following two or three days were a blur. The next thing I remember was all the flowers coming to our house. From Virgil, Andy, Fabinho, Firmino, Thiago…. on and on.
“And not just from my teammates, but even Pep Guardiola and Carlo Ancelotti sent me a condolence letter.
It really touched my heart. Every 10 minutes, there was another knock at our door, with a delivery man holding flowers.
