Allegri: I wouldn’t swap Barzagli, Bonucci and Chiellini for Messi

Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri insists he has the best trio in world football with Andrea Barzagli, Leonardo Bonucci and Giorgio Chiellini, otherwise known as ‘BBC’.

All three have been instrumental to Juve’s success in Serie A in recent years and are all in that small group of defenders that can be considered as world class.

They were simply magnificent for Italy during the 2-0 victory over Belgium in their opening game at the European Championships on Monday night and their display has triggered talk in the media as to what is the best trio at the moment.

Real Madrid have a ‘BBC’ of their own with Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo, while Barcelona’s ‘MSN’ trio of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar have been wreaking havoc in La Liga and in Europe for over a year.

However, Allegri has revealed in an interview with Football Italia that he wouldn’t swap his defensive trio for any in the world.

“I wouldn’t swap them for any top player.

“The BBC, along with [goalkeeper Gianluigi] Buffon, are already my Messi.”

Allegri will be hoping to retain the services of all three defenders next season as current Azzurri manager Antonio Conte, who be in charge of Chelsea next season, has been linked making Bonucci his top priority this summer.

Against the Belgians, Bonucci averaged 11 defensive actions, Chiellini followed closely with 13 and Barzagli (seven).

The trio will be hoping to maintain that level of performance for Italy in their next game against Sweden tomorrow afternoon.
