Alonso: Hernandez would be a good fit for Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich midfielder Xabi Alonso believes former Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez would be a good signing for new manager Carlo Ancelotti.

The Mexico international left the Red Devils for Bayer Leverkusen last summer and he scored an impressive 17 goals from 27 Bundesliga appearances, while also netting five in six in the Champions League.

Hernandez played under Ancelotti at Real Madrid during the 2014/15 campaign in a year-long loan spell from Old Trafford, making 23 La Liga appearances, and Alonso believes the duo’s relationship would help the striker fit in at the Allianz Arena.

“Carlo Ancelotti knows him well, the year they were together at Real Madrid, but those are already questions for managers,” the Spaniard said in an interview with Univision, as reported by MedioTiempo.

“Bayern could fit in with their quality, but he looks happy in Leverkusen.”Alonso also heaped praise on his former United foe for the way he adapted to German football in such a short space of time.

“Their adaptation to the Bundesliga has been fantastic, perfect conceded in Leverkusen. He has done what is specialist, score goals and be decisive,” the former Liverpool midfielder added.

The reigning Bundesliga champions have already been active in the transfer market this summer, raiding rivals Borussia Dortmund to re-sign German international Mats Hummels to pair him alongside Jerome Boateng in central defence.

Meanwhile, highly-rated youngster Renato Sanches is set to provide competition for Alonso in midfield next season after joining from Portuguese giants Benfica before the European Championships, where he impressed greatly in France and was named Young Player of the Tournament.

Although, displacing Alonso will be difficult as the former Liverpool midfielder made 26 league appearances last season and created 40 chances.
