Amartey set for January Foxes exit

Leicester City defender Daniel Amartey will reportedly be allowed to leave the club permanently during the January transfer window. Amartey joined the Foxes in January 2016 from Copenhagen in a deal believed to be worth around £2.5million but he has failed to make his mark at the King Power Stadium, making just 31 Premier League starts.
Having seen three managers come and go during his time in the East Midlands, the Ghana international has fallen way down the pecking order under Northern Irish tactician Brendan Rodgers, who has guided the club to second in the table this term.
The 24-year-old did suffer an ankle injury last season before battling back to full fitness in the summer, but he hasn’t played a single minute of football this season and a January exit looks to be on the cards.
Amartey’s only appearance in a matchday squad came in the Foxes’ EFL Cup win at Luton Town in September but he could be swapping England for Turkey if the latest reports are to be believed.
Turkish top-tier side Trabzonspor are said to be keen on the midfielder, who can also play at right-back, and there are claims they will look to secure a loan deal for the second half of the campaign.
It is thought a future fee will be included in the contract, somewhere around the £3million mark, which is just slightly more than Leicester paid for Amartey’s services nearly three years ago.
The Ghanaian only signed a new contract in December 2018, extending his stay until the summer of 2023, but the arrival of Rodgers in February this year appears to have ended any hopes of the midfielder making it at the King Power Stadium.
Leicester, who are on a five-game winning run in all competitions, return to Premier League action on November 23 when they make the trip to the AMEX Stadium to take on Brighton.
The Foxes are unbeaten in the last four meetings against the Seagulls, with the last encounter ending 2-1 to Rodgers’ men.
