Ruben Amorim has reportedly claimed Alejandro Garnacho is a “little bit upset” with him following his exclusion from Manchester United’s derby victory over Manchester City.
Marcus Rashford and Garnacho were left out of the 20-man matchday squad for the crucial match, which United won by a slim margin of 2-1.
The decision sparked controversy, although Amorim explained after the game that the players’ poor performances in training and on the field were the reason for the exclusion rather than disciplinary concerns.
Garnacho returned to training on Monday, despite the setback, and impressed Amorim with his conduct and professionalism. He has now earned a spot in the Carabao Cup matchday squad against Tottenham Hotspur as a result.

According to Goal, Amorim acknowledged that the 20-year-old looked “a little bit upset” after being left out of the derby match, but he responded admirably to the rejection at Carrington.
“Really good, he trained really well,” Amorim told reporters. “He seems a little bit upset with me and that’s perfect. I was really really happy because I would do the same. He’s ready for this game.”
Given Rashford’s recent announcement that he intends to pursue a transfer from the club, the situation with him is still more problematic.
The England international was once again left out of the Carabao Cup match against Spurs, while Garnacho was called back into the fold. This may have been due to Rashford’s recent illness, which prevented him from training on Monday.
