Manchester United summer signing, Leny Yoro is set to make his competitive debut after joining for £52m from Lille in the summer.
Despite missing out due to a foot injury, the defender is expected to make his debut this week. Before facing Arsenal, Ruben Amorim called 19-year-old Yoro a “special talent” and declared that Noussair Mazraoui, who also joined in the summer, is the “future of our team.”
Yoro resumed training in October and could potentially be included in the squad for United’s trip to Arsenal on Wednesday.
“I feel he is in a good moment now, his fitness is better,” said United head coach Amorim as echoed by Eurosport.
“He is a special talent,” added Amorim. “We have to be careful in the first moment. We didn’t have too many training [sessions] together. He has been training with a small group of players.
“He is really fast, a modern defender. He will be good when we want to press high and you leave a lot of strikers in this league one-against-one, he can manage that. He is very good with the ball so I am very excited.
Amorim also had words of praise for another summer signing, Noussair Mazraoui, who has impressed since joining from Bayern Munich.
“He’s a top player,” said Amorim about Mazraoui. “He understands the game, knows how to attack, very technical, very good defensively and very good one-on-one. I think he’s the future of our team.”
