Ancelotti Considers Dropping One Of Front Three Ahead Of Madrid Derby

Real Madrid manager, Carlo Ancelotti is reportedly pondering over dropping one of the front three just a month into the new season.

According to a report from Marca as claimed by Football Espana, Ancelotti may change the team’s shape because the squad is still lacking balance.

Madrid had 19 shots against Stuttgart, looking deadly up front. But they also let up 17 shots and were exposed for long stretches of the match.

According to the daily from Madrid, Ancelotti is thinking about going back to a lineup with four midfielders. Thus far, he has insisted that Jude Bellingham play deeper when fit, putting Kylian Mbappe, Rodrygo Goes, and Vinicius Junior ahead of him.

Although it won’t occur in every game, but their upcoming matches—like the September 29 trip to the Metropolitano to play rivals Atletico Madrid—four midfielders could be utilized, with Rodrygo sitting on the bench.

Bellingham will play the same role he did the previous season—that of a deep threat who protects Ferland Mendy’s left flank when not carrying the ball.

In order to achieve defensive stability and greater balance, Ancelotti’s side are already working on this in training. They intend to make the shift at the Metropolitano.

In recent months, Rodrygo has been eager to flaunt his stature and remind people of his worth. He has refuted the notion that Bellingham, Mbappe, and Vinicius form a trident, stating that they are a quartet, including himself.
