Ancelotti ‘Fed Up’ With 29-Year-Old Real Madrid Star

Real Madrid manager, Carlo Ancelotti is reportedly fed up with Ferland Mendy and identified him as the ‘weakest link’ in Los Blancos’ 1-0 loss to LOSC Lille in the UEFA Champions League.

Due to a penalty kick by Jonathan David in the 48th minute, the Spanish giants lost 1-0 on the road against Lille.

It was not a great night for his team, and Ancelotti was naturally disappointed in Madrid’s underwhelming showing.

Lille were better and deserved to win. We were bad and slow tonight,” the Italian told reporters after the game, as quoted by Fabrizio Romano.

“We didn’t create, the possession was slow, no ideas, we were bad under every aspect.”

While every member of the team needs to accept responsibility for their uncharacteristic performance, one player’s appalling performance stood out more than the others.

Left-back Ferland Mendy was tormented all evening by Edon Zhegrova.

After such a problematic first half, Ancelotti subbed on Fran Garcia for the 29-year-old at halftime.

Furthermore, the Real Madrid coach is weary of the Frenchman’s performances and would prefer he move on, according to Defensa Central as reported by Caught Offside.

Mendy is not under any pressure to leave the Spanish capital as he recently signed a contract that runs until 2027.

But it appears Mendy’s days, at least as a consistent starter, are numbered as Ancelotti is pressuring Florentino Perez to sign Bayern Munich defender, Alphonso Davies.

Mendy has not registered a goal or an assist since the beginning of the season, despite starting in all six of Madrid’s La Liga games thus far.
