Ancelotti two games from sack – report

Manager Carlo Ancelotti reportedly has two more games to save his job at Napoli after problems on and off the pitch this season. The 60-year-old watched his charges play out a goalless draw at home to Genoa on Saturday, a result that left the Partenopei seventh in the Serie A standings and 13 points behind table-topping Juventus.
It was reported at the weekend that the former Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid coach’s job was safe for the time being, with Napoli hoping to stabilise.
However, with Aurelio De Laurentiis flying home from a trip to Los Angeles to sort things out, Sport Mediaset are claiming the boss will be sacked unless things improve in the next two fixtures.
While an Italian top-flight encounter with Milan might not be seen as too tough, the Naples outfit then travel to Anfield to take on Liverpool in the Champions League.
That is arguably one of the toughest assignments in European football at present, with Jurgen Klopp’s Reds sweeping all before them.
Therefore it is hardly a game that Ancelotti would like to pin his future on and it may be his goose is already cooked.
Things got worse when he publicly disagreed with De Laurentiis’ decision to send the team on a training retreat, so a parting of the ways may now be inevitable.
Gennaro Gattuso is one name suggested as a possible successor should Napoli pull the trigger and the 41-year-old is still available after rejecting several roles since he left Milan at the end of last season.
