Ancelotti’s Request For A New Centre-Back Not Sanctioned By The Real Madrid Board

Real Madrid has been scoring goals and winning games like crazy this season, and they are justifiably at the top of the league standings. However, their ascension to the top has been hampered by both internal and external causes.

Los Blancos have had to keep up with Girona on the outside while dealing with an as dangerous inside foe in injuries. The center-back position has been the most influenced on the field.

 Ancelotti request

According to The Athletic, Carlo Ancelotti demanded a new centre-back in the January transfer window following David Alaba’s season-ending ACL injury.

However, Aurelien Tchouameni’s circumstances and the manager’s trust in the Frenchman relieved the administration’s strain.

The club’s decision-makers are hesitant to make a fresh signing in the winter, as Real Madrid has done for several years. Ancelotti recognizes this and has so ceased pressing for a new hire.

As a consequence of the manager’s discussion with the president, it was agreed that the current core would be trusted to cover the squad’s gaps, with a new defender arriving in the summer.

The Brazilian factor

Real Madrid’s first big blow of the season in the centre-back department was Eder Militao’s ACL injury. Having suffered a long-term blow, he was expected to miss the team’s entire season.

As revealed earlier today, however, Militao’s recovery has been progressing better than expected. The Brazilian is already in the final stretch of his return to fitness and will join the group in the near future.

His return, needless to say, will be the biggest signing Ancelotti can ask for and will ease the pressure on the manager. Nevertheless, his re-incorporation will be measured, gradually and without involving any risks.
