Ander Herrera believes that Jose Mourinho’s winning mentality has been key to Manchester United’s upturn in form this season.
The Red Devils lifted their first major trophy of the season on Sunday when they beat Southampton 3-1 in the EFL Cup final thanks to goals from Jesse Lingard and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Manchester United have struggled to find consistent form in the wake of Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement in 2013 but the Red Devils have shown plenty of promise in the last few weeks.
Mourinho’s men are unbeaten in 16 Premier League games and are still in with a chance of winning the Europa League and FA Cup.
The Portuguese coach was brought to Old Trafford in the wake of Louis van Gaal’s sacking last May and signed a three-year contract.
And Herrera feels that Mourinho’s attitude has been one of the main building blocks of success for the Red Devils this term.
Speaking to MUTV, Herrera said: “I think one of the things [Jose] Mourinho has brought to this club is he is a winner. He shared that with the group, with the team and with the squad.
“At this moment, it’s not very easy to beat us. We have to respect every opponent but the badge sometimes wins the game. We keep going. It’s our second title of the season but it’s not enough for us.
“We are not having too much time to enjoy it with our people. We are playing every week now but have two days off as the manager understands perfectly what we need.”
