Andre Onana is feeling ‘refreshed’ after being dropped for Manchester United’s trip to Newcastle United, a report has claimed.

The Cameroon international was left off of the traveling party to St. James’ Park by head coach Ruben Amorim after United lost the first leg of their Europa League quarterfinal match against Lyon due to two handling errors.
Altay Bayindir, Onana’s substitute at the weekend, did not fare any better as Newcastle hammered United 4-1; Bruno Guimaraes eventually scored the Magpies’ fourth goal after a late kicking error that was directly directed at Joelinton.
As United hosts Lyon at Old Trafford on Thursday for the second leg of their European match, ESPN reports that Amorim has not yet decided whether or not to call up Onana.
However, the 29-year-old feels “refreshed” after being removed from the firing line, reports 90 min.
There have been many highs and lows in Onana’s United career.
Early in his United career, the former Inter and Ajax goalkeeper made some egregious mistakes, but as the 2023–24 campaign progressed, he gained prominence and made several crucial saves as the team rallied to win the FA Cup for Erik ten Hag.
