Antonio Conte Reveals Visit To Buckingham Palace To Pay Tribute To Queen

Tottenham manager Antonio Conte has disclosed that he attended the memorial services for Queen Elizabeth II held at Buckingham Palace after her passing.

Conte was speaking to the media ahead of Tottenham’s Champions League match against Sporting CP on Tuesday.

Conte is the most recent footballing icon to pay tribute the Queen. David Beckham, Pele, and Gareth Southgate are just a few of the players and coaches who have sent statements on social media in the days following her passing.

What Did Antonio Conte Say About The Queen?

“What happened in England in the last few days is a shock,” Conte said to reporters.

“She was 96 years old and for me honestly it was very difficult to believe that she had died. In your mind, you think that the Queen is immortal.

“I live in London and on Friday, there is an atmosphere and I went to Buckingham Palace like a normal person, because I am a normal person with a heart. To live this situation because for sure I will remember this for the rest of our lives.

“And then the Premier League took an important decision to stop and showed great respect for the death. I will keep this in my heart and my mind for the rest of my life.”

Despite some London games being canceled owing to activities related to the Queen’s burial, Tottenham’s Premier League match versus Leicester will still take place on Saturday.
