Argentina have reportedly left Lionel Messi out of their squad for the upcoming FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
According to The Mirror, Lionel Scaloni, the manager, has left out the Albiceleste captain, who won the trophy in 2022, for the games against Brazil and Uruguay.
Inter Miami, the 37-year-old’s team, have revealed that their talismanic figure has a “low-grade” adductor injury. He was uncomfortable after his team defeated Atlanta 2-1 in Major League Soccer on Sunday.
Prior to scoring from the bench in last week’s CONCACAF Champions Cup victory over Jamaican outfit Cavalier, Messi had been rested for three Miami games.

“Messi underwent an MRI (scan) this morning to assess the extent of the discomfort in his adductor region, which he experienced during last night’s match against Atlanta United,” read a club statement.
“The examination’s findings confirmed the presence of a low-grade injury in the adductor muscle. His clinical progress and response to treatment will determine his availability for competition.”
With 112 goals in 191 games, Messi is Argentina’s all-time top scorer and most-capped player. During this international window, the World Cup winners can guarantee their spot in the tournament in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
He said: “I’m sad to miss these important games against Uruguay and Brazil. I really wanted to play, but a small injury means I need to rest for a bit, so I can’t be there.
“I’ll be supporting and cheering from here like any other fan. Let’s go, Argentina”.
