Tyler Morton could play for Liverpool in the Champions League on Wednesday night, but his future at Anfield is unknown as the January transfer window closes.
The 22-year-old midfielder, who has only appeared in the FA Cup and Carabao Cup this season, revealed his dissatisfaction with his limited playing time after Liverpool’s 4-0 win over Accrington Stanley earlier this month.
He mentioned the necessity to make a “selfish” career move, which may be a loan or a permanent transfer. “Definitely, it’s been tough for me this season minutes-wise,” Morton said after the game.
“I believe I handled it extremely nicely. I kept my head down and gave it my all every day. I believe I deserve a chance. I had the opportunity today; hopefully, people think I took it.

“I believe I had a good game. It was exhilarating; when you don’t have many opportunities, you have to seize them, and I believe I did today. This month is certainly a big one for me. It’s decision time.
“I believe I’m ready to go up and be a true professional. Definitely, I believe I am ready to get started and take the next step. Football is football, whether it is played here or elsewhere. I’ve got to be a little selfish and go with my feelings.”
Morton spent last season with Hull City and was linked with a move in the summer. RB Leipzig, as well as Arne Slot’s former club Feyenoord, are said to be interested. He eventually stayed at Anfield, and Liverpool valued him at roughly $25 million/£20 million.
Morton is set to make his European debut this season when Liverpool takes on PSV Eindhoven in the final match of the Champions League’s revised league phase.
