Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah scored the opening goal in their 2-1 Champions League victory over LOSC Lille, thanks to Curtis Jones’ incisive pass. Salah caressed the ball past Lucas Chevalier to give Arne Slot’s side the lead.
Lille’s Jonathan David equalized in the 62nd minute, but Harvey Elliott’s deflected strike sealed the win for Liverpool at Anfield. This was a proud night for Liverpool and Salah, who now has 50 goals in Europe for the Reds.
Salah, who is out of contract this summer, is having a genuinely unique season in what could be his final campaign with Liverpool.
After the game, Arne Slot was questioned about his star striker.

Slot’s side has been a force to be reckoned with in Europe’s top tournament, winning seven of their seven games this season.
When Arne Slot learned that Salah had scored 50 European goals for Liverpool following his most recent strike against Lille, he immediately thought of the term “special.”
Slot told BeanymanSports, “Mo’s performance was special. At this club, the best, or perhaps there are better terms to use, but he’s done fantastic work for this club for many years and continues to do so.
“Today, great goal, if Mo goes on a one-v-one, there’s a serious chance that he’s going to score.”
Arne Slot went on to say that his players’ efforts to win the ball back in the build-up to Salah’s goal are the reason they are currently leading the Premier League table.
Slot praised Salah’s professionalism as the quality that has “impressed” him the most since joining Liverpool. He believes the Champions League winner understands what it takes to perform consistently. Salah has been described as a “machine” by Anthony Gordon and has consistently delivered in a red shirt.
