According to Paul Scholes, Arsenal should sign Brentford striker Ivan Toney this summer because he will add 25 goals to the team per season.
Scholes, a former Manchester United midfielder, is clearly a fan of Toney, claiming that the England international would easily score that many goals for any Premier League club.
Arsenal didn’t exactly struggle in front of goal last season, with the likes of Bukayo Saka, Leandro Trossard, Kai Havertz, and Martin Odegaard sharing the scoring burden fairly evenly, but there’s certainly a case to be made for Mikel Arteta bringing in more of an out-and-out goal-scorer to help his side cross the finish line in the title race.

Arsenal came so close to breaking their twenty-year league drought last season, with Manchester City edging them out on the penultimate day, and one has to question whether they could have gone all the way if they had a more clinical finisher in that difficult period before the winter break.
Toney transfer: Is he exactly what Arsenal needs?
Toney has a proven track record of scoring at this level, and Scholes believes the 28-year-old will provide the Gunners with the necessary edge.
“It’s hard to say they’ve not got enough up there because of the amount of goals they scored,” says Scholes.
“It seemed absurd, but I believe signing a centre forward would assist. Signing an out-and-out number nine who guarantees you 25 goals would clearly be beneficial.
“Are those players out there? Ivan Toney has been mentioned a lot, I think he scores 25 goals in that Arsenal team. I think he scores 25 goals in a lot of teams.”
Arsenal might prefer to go for a younger player, but there’s a bit of a shortage on the market right now, so fans would surely welcome Toney as a Plan B option at the very least.
