Arsenal And Chelsea ‘Battle For $72m Striker, As Liverpool Faces  PSG Competition

After officially starting his tenure as Liverpool new head coach, Arne Slot will have a busy summer ahead of him. Pre-season does not begin for another month, but there is certain to be plenty of business before then.

Richard Hughes, the club’s sporting director, will have already begun working to identify targets and make choices on Liverpool players who could be sold to fund summer investment.

There is rumors that Liverpool might receive a massive offer from Saudi Arabia for Alisson, but Slot is unlikely to consider releasing his No. 1 goalkeeper heading into next season.

Liverpool is likely to face competition from PSG for a prospective target, with the French champions ultimately losing talisman Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid. Here, Liverpool.com looks around the Premier League and throughout Europe to see what’s happening on with Liverpool’s opponents, including a struggle between Arsenal and Chelsea for a Bundesliga striker.

PSG gives Rayan Cherki the go-ahead.

Liverpool is expected to face competition from Paris Saint-Germain for Lyon midfielder Rayan Cherki this summer. Cherki has one year left on his contract and is expected to be sold when the transfer market opens.

According to Sports Zone, Liverpool admired the 20-year-old, who can play centrally and out wide. Lyon is apparently hoping to get roughly $27 million (£21 million/€25 million) for Cherki this summer.

However, PSG appears to be eager on keeping Cherki in France, with manager Luis Enrique given permission to explore a transfer, according to L’Equipe. The French champions will look to replace Kylian Mbappe this summer, with Enrique expected to complete a number of transfers.

According to Liverpool.com, it is questionable whether Cherki is the appropriate player for Liverpool right now. He would be a valuable addition to the squad, but his arrival could stymie the development of Harvey Elliott and Curtis Jones. He can play out wide, but Arne Slot is likely to look for a more natural winger this summer.
