Arsenal Bid For Target ‘Immediately’ Rejected By Premier League Rivals

Arsenal have reportedly seen their offer for Wolverhampton Wanderers goalkeeper, Dan Bentley rejected by the Premier League club.

Mikel Arteta is hoping to bring in some cover for the Emirates club’s goalkeeper position. But it’s clear that they will need to raise their offer if they want to persuade Wolves to let go of the Englishman. The Gunners will probably be hesitant to spend a significant sum of money on Bentley because his potential arrival at Emirates would also put him third choice behind the newly signed David Raya and former number one keeper Aaron Ramsdale.

Although, Bentley has only made a few appearances for the Midlands club. It is said that Wolves would only consider selling him if they were given enough cash to get a backup goalkeeper.

According to transfer expert, David Ornstein when writing for The Athletic, Wolves have rebuffed the fee Arsenal are offering for the shot-stopper, who was in the books of the Gunners before departing in 2008.

He said: “Arsenal make opening offer for Wolves goalkeeper Dan Bentley. Proposal immediately turned down – well below #WWFC valuation of important squad member. #AFC targeting 30yo Englishman as 3rd choice to strengthen ranks in pre-season and beyond.”

Arsenal’s offer was said to be ‘considerably short’. Although the Gunners seek to avoid spending a fortune, Arteta will be aware of the expertise he may add to his team.
