The 2024 European Championship has not only seen clubs fighting over Spain winger, Nico Williams but also players.
This comes after a number of the Athletic Bilbao winger’s Spanish teammates advocated for the breakout player to join their cause this summer.
The winger has been strongly linked to both Arsenal and Chelsea, two of the biggest clubs in the Premier League. But Barcelona are also reportedly making an increased effort to get him.
Furthermore, it’s evident that Blaugrana midfielder Pedri is actively seeking new players for his club after being enthralled with Williams’ talent during Euro 2024.
A prospective future club teammate showered the 21-year-old with praise after he shone with one goal and one assist in Spain’s recent 4-1 thumping of Georgia. The player has a £46.5 million release clause in his contract.
“Nico Williams would be a spectacular signing for us at Barcelona, it’d be incredible,” Pedri told Mundo Deportivo as reported by The Mirror. “He’s a player who is already showing what he’s capable of. I hope he can join us!”
In response to questions concerning the scope of the discussions meant to entice Williams to Camp Nou. He said: “We don’t talk about it much. It’s a decision that he and Barca have to make. There are a lot of things that have to happen.”
However, other teammates who ply their trades in La Liga have also taken on the role of agent in an effort to lure the winger.

Chelsea defender, Marc Cucurella, who has been instrumental for Spain in Euro 2024, talked about his personal advances to persuade Williams to go to west London with him.
“I’ve been telling Nico Williams to come to Chelsea, but everything depends on him,” the full-back told Catalan daily Sport. “He’s young and has a lot of experience. I think he will be a great player.”
