Arsenal remain confident that manager Arsene Wenger won’t be swayed by the sudden vacancy with the England national team.
The FA are searching for Roy Hodgson’s successor following his resignation immediately after the Three Lions crashed out of the European Championships at the hands of Iceland on Monday night.
It was reported on Wednesday that Wenger, along with Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri, would be sounded out for the job, with the Frenchman thought to not be opposed to the role just as long as the timing is right given that he won’t break his contract with the Gunners.
However, Telegraph Sport have claimed that officials at the North London outfit believe their long-serving manager won’t be affected by the position that has opened up with the England national team and have ruled out any suggestions of a job share next season.
In addition, the reports says that Wenger, who celebrates 20 years in charge of the Gunners in October, will wait until the 2016-2017 campaign starts before deciding whether he wants to extend his contract which expires next summer.
His decision is likely to be based on whether his side can sustain a genuine Premier League title bid, although Arsenal expect to be given plenty of notice so that they can plan for the future.
