Arsenal is considering alternative forward additions as their chances of securing favorite target Benjamin Sesko this month dwindle, according to ESPN sources.
Mikel Arteta has made no secret of his desire to improve Arsenal’s striker options following a faltering run of play in the Premier League title battle.
According to ESPN, Arsenal’s interest in Sesko began last summer, when the Slovenia striker agreed to sign a new contract with RB Leipzig.
According to sources, Sesko may be allowed to leave the club at the conclusion of the season for a sum in the area of €70 million-€75 million ($72 million-78 million), but Leipzig is hesitant to accept his departure this month.

Although no club has tested Leipzig’s commitment with a formal bid, sources tell ESPN that there is a growing sense that Sesko will stay in Germany, thus alternative possibilities must be considered if the Gunners want to strengthen their squad before Monday’s deadline.
Arsenal has not focused solely on centre-forwards. Matheus Cunha of Wolverhampton Wanderers is another player under discussion, but sources say a deal is unlikely for the time being, though that could change.
Arsenal have long been interested in Athletic Club winger Nico Williams, who has a release clause worth over €60 million. Barcelona were supposed to be the frontrunners to sign him if he left Athletic, but sources say Arsenal and Tottenham are also keeping an eye on his position.
