Arsenal, England ‘Handed Major Bukayo Saka Injury Boost’

Arsenal are reportedly optimistic that Bukayo Saka did not suffer serious injury on Sunday and could even be available to play against Chelsea on Sunday.

The attacker was pulled out in the first half of Steve Cooper’s side’s game with an ankle injury, and there were fears that he could be sidelined for some time.

According to The Sun, Arsenal is ‘cautiously optimistic’ that the issue is not serious, and he could play against Chelsea in the Premier League on Sunday.

Saka is likely to miss Thursday’s Europa League match against FC Zurich, but he could return for this weekend’s key encounter with the Blues at Stamford Bridge, according to the report.

Arsenal will play Zurich, Chelsea, Brighton & Hove Albion, and Wolverhampton Wanderers in their final four matches before the 2022 World Cup.

There were fears that Saka’s injury could jeopardise his World Cup spot, but he will likely be fit for England at the competition, which begins next month.

The Three Lions will begin their group-stage campaign against Iran on November 21, followed by matches against the United States and Wales on November 25 and 29, respectively.

Saka has made 20 appearances for England, scoring four goals, and is expected to start for Gareth Southgate’s side in Qatar.

Meanwhile, the attacker has been a standout for Arsenal this season, scoring five goals and contributing five assists in 17 appearances across all competitions.

Will Bukayo Saka Miss 2022 World Cup?

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta addressed Saka’s injury shortly after the win over Nottingham Forest, saying he did not believe the Englishman had suffered a potentially long-term injury.

“Hopefully not (whether his World Cup was in doubt), It was a bad kick right from the beginning he was limping, but I don’t see any further than that, let’s see how it is in the next couple of days,” he told reporters.

“I think both [leg & ankle] he got kicked a few times and he wasn’t comfortable to continue.”
