Earlier this week, there were rumors that Bayern had retracted their most recent contract offer for the adaptable 30-year-old, who has spent ten years with the team and won eight Bundesliga crowns and one Champions League trophy.
Kimmich, who has 97 caps for Germany, has been linked to both Manchester City and Liverpool, but negotiations for a Bosman move at the end of the current campaign have been held with Arsenal.
The midfield combo of Jorginho and Thomas Partey, whose contracts expire at the end of the current campaign, are also expected to depart and Arsenal is searching for a replacement.
According to reports, Bayern offered Kimmich a three-year contract worth about £375,000 per week, which would have increased his stated £320,000 weekly salary.
However, the Gunners have now confirmed their interest in negotiations, making their intentions apparent, reports Standard.
According to the source, Kimmich has notified Bayern of both Arsenal’s and another unidentified foreign club’s interest.
Kimmich had been a mainstay for Bayern during their Bundesliga and Champions League campaigns before suffering an injury that caused him to leave the team during their most recent victory over Eintracht Frankfurt.
Although the German has spent the majority of the season playing defensive midfield, he has also been used at right-back and once at center-back.
