Arsenal Expected To Make ‘Surprise Additions’ As They ‘Show Interest’ in Premier League Striker Who is ‘Eager To Move’

Arsenal are expected to make “surprise signings” before the end of the transfer window, as interest in Everton forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin is disclosed.

Earlier in the year, the Gunners concluded a deal to recruit Bologna centre-back Riccardo Calafiori for about £42 million, while David Raya’s loan move from Brentford was converted into a permanent transfer, with the Gunners spending £27 million on the goalkeeper.

Mikel Merino, a Real Sociedad midfielder, has apparently finished his physical at Arsenal, but the announcement has been postponed, while the Gunners are looking for another attacker before the window closes, with Eddie Nketiah close to departing for Crystal Palace.

The Gunners have been connected with a number of strikers and wingers in recent months, and a report yesterday suggested they could make a late loan bid for Brighton forward Evan Ferguson.

And now Caught Offside claims that Everton striker Calvert-Lewin is on their radar ahead of the transfer deadline, with the England international hoping to go away this summer.

Arsenal and Chelsea are ‘among the clubs showing interest’ in Calvert-Lewin, with Newcastle United also’monitoring his status as a possible cheap option on the market’.

According to the article, Calvert-Lewin is ‘intent on leaving the Toffees, and they are clearly in a scenario where they’ll be under pressure to sell if the appropriate bid comes in’.

“So, if Arsenal does something, it appears to be one of those surprise signings that may take us off guard.

“Arteta did hint that something could still happen after the game against Villa and I’m sure he will be pushing for more because he will want as strong a squad as possible ahead of such a demanding season.”
