Newcastle United duo, Bruno Guimaraes and Fabian Schar are reportedly set to miss the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final clash against Arsenal at the Emirates.
The Gunners are set to play the Magpies in a two-legged affair of the competition as Mikel Arteta’s side aim to win their first major trophy since the FA Cup triumph in 2020.
Newcastle have also been waiting since their own FA Cup victory in 1955, they are also committed to winning domestic silverware themselves.
The other two-leg matchup between Tottenham and Liverpool will take place in the weeks starting January 6 and February 3 next year.

In the first leg, Arsenal will play at home and may have been granted the advantage without Arteta even having to think too much about his team.
According to the Daily Express, Schar and Guimaraes, two important players for Eddie Howe’s side, will not travel to the Emirates as they are both suspended.
This comes after both players received bookings during Wednesday’s 3-1 quarterfinal victory against Brentford.
A player who receives two yellow cards prior to the semi-final stage will be banned for one match under the current competition regulations.
With 20 appearances across all competitions this season, Guimaraes has once again been a key member of Newcastle. However, he received a yellow card six minutes prior to the half time with his team leading 1-0 at St. James’ Park.
Schar, a Swiss defender, had already been yellow-carded after 17 minutes, though, he scored in the second half, his fate was already decided by then.
